I will forever draw my inspiration from interiors. Being fully immersed in the palette and design of a room is the same feeling I want embrace guests with when they step into a wedding space. Interior spaces also happen to provide fantastic color palette inspiration and endless timeless details. Here are my go to's for creating decor plans inspired by the spaces we live our lives in.
My Top Tips for Finding Inspiration in Interior Spaces:
1. Pull colors from all the details in the room. The pop of red show up not just on the lamps, but in books and accents on the shelves. Those purple flowers on the table add dimension in interest to your palette.
2. Consider Using a special furniture piece at the wedding. Yes, a wedding is only one day, but using furniture you'd actually see in a home (sorry Chivari chairs!) gives your space so much presence. Considering bringing in a piece from your family, or purchasing a piece for the wedding that will live on in your home. A recent wedding used two gorgeous Louis-style side chairs from the bride's mother's living room , recovered in deep blue linen to match the wedding palette. That bar down there would be a great drink station during a cocktail hour, and then a fabulous memory to serve drinks from at dinner parties for years to come.
3. Consider Texture as much as color. Linen, velvet and lacquer stand out in this room and add so much detail and interest to your wedding decor.
4, And Lastly - Buy and Use What you Truly Love. Your home is a layered reflection of your life experiences. Guess what your wedding is....An invitation to your friends and loved ones to share one of your greatest life experiences. There is no greater way to infuse a temporary space with your personality and experiences than bringing in what you love. If you truly love the pieces you're picking, your decor plan will always come together beautifully. Don't let your pantone-color-swatched-wedding-theme guide you too far from your instinct.
